Rory provides a bespoke service for both students and staff at our school. Working as the SENDCO can be challenging but I have been able to access well-being support for my students with additional needs to support them in a mainstream setting which can at times represent a range of difficulties. I have seen an improvement to individuals socially and academically as a result of this support. The group work is very beneficial to students with or without additional needs. The staff workshops allow staff to build positive working relationships, share scenarios and improve their mindsets in this very challenging profession
Michaela Rueban, Assistant Principal, The Roundhill Academy, Leicester.
It was so nice to go through some of the exercises together as it helps to feel more prepared to do this [Stress Management Exercise]. Rory has a lovely presentation style, he really modelled the Compassion-Focused model effectively.
Christy Wellings, Psychotherapist, South London and Maudsley (SLAM) NHS
Rory is an exceptional lecturer, the feedback from students every time has been outstanding about his lectures. He relates theory to skill and practice so well that the students feel they can apply everything he teaches into practice straight away. Rory is a vital member of the team in counselling and psychotherapy who has been involved in undergraduate and postgraduate work. I have nothing but complete praise for his hard work and commitment to this field.
Jazz Kang, Programme Leader, MSc Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, University of Derby
A very passionate lecturer [with] lots of enthusiasm. The class seemed more awake than usual! I also liked practicing the interventions and anecdotes from client work. 10/10.
Trainee Psychotherapist, University of Derby, An Introduction to CFT
I feel that everything today has really opened my eyes to what it could be like to work with young adults and children. I found the different strategies that could be used, brilliant and I feel that all of them, depending on the client could be used with adults as well and has given me a lot to reflect on. 10/10.
Trainee Psychotherapist, University of Derby. Workshop: Working therapeutically with Children and Young People.
Rory listens and asks pertinent questions to help me find the answers. He helps me to realise how I'm feeling and reacting and where I want to get to. The sessions have helped to reduce my stress levels and create a calmer and happier house.
Therapy client (adult)
It has been really useful to be able to talk openly about the difficult things that have been going on. I also found the practices (CFT) really helpful different perspective.
Therapy client (teenager)
As an experienced practitioner it was good to get a refresh and highlight the areas I know will be triggers of difficulty and to plan and prepare for these. I really liked the mix of formal and informal nature of the presentation.
